Mobile phones and driving..

Today people can’t leave their home without carrying their mobile phone. There is no doubt of its value; whereas it has been noticed that many people use their mobile phone while driving the car which is unsafe. In this essay I will argue about prohibition of using mobile phone while driving.

Actually, every argument has two sides whether agreeing or disagreeing. People tend to use a mobile phone all the time everywhere for all situations, for example, emergency cases, business, and connecting people. Today the mobile phone also could be used in the car as a GPS; it stands for Global Positioning System which supplies navigation for your destination. In addition to that most new cars are equipped with a Bluetooth System, which is an option for using a hands-free phone safely while driving.

On the other hand, it has been proved that using a mobile phone while driving reduces the concentration of being alert to the road which is a great risk to your life and others. There are a huge number of accidents that occur as a result of using a mobile phone while driving, which includes holding the phone and using the head-set. The driver must park safely for the duration of holding the mobile phone to avoid risk.

To conclude, it’s possible to multi task but not when in danger. In my point of view, I totally agree that using a mobile phone should be forbidden, although everyone has the right to use it but not while driving because it’s obviously unsafe. I believe that one of the major causes of accidents is using a mobile phone while driving.

Age of marriage..

The chart shows the fall in the percentage of women aged 15 to 19 who are married in six Arab countries. The table shows the age of first marriage for men and women in 14 countries.

The bar chart shows the fall in all 6 Arab countries over the past 3-4 decades. The most striking characteristic of the bar chart is the UAE, where the percentage of 15-19 year old married women declined from 57% in 1975 to 8% in 1995. Other enormous drops are in Libya, from 40% in 1973 to 1% in 1995 and Kuwait, from 38% in 1970 to 5% in 1996. There were other significant falls in Libya, Tunisia and Kuwait. The age of first marriage, in the table, showed a range from mid- to late-20s for men and from low- to mid-20s for women.

In summary, the bar chart and the table show the marriage percentages and averages. The bar chart shows that women are getting married at a later age. The table shows that, on average; women in the U.A.E are first married at the age of 23.

Around the college..

We are all students at Abu Dhabi Men's College.

We have to be in the classroom on time.

Physics and chemistry lessons take place in a laboratory.

There are no healthy food outlets in our canteen/cafeteria.

I read books and magazines and also do IELTS practice in our college library, which is large and well-stocked.

Student services organise activities for us.

The academic office performs many administrative tasks, such as issuing ID cards and arranging exam schedules.

There is a special learning centre in our library, called the Active Learning Zone, to provide students with extra help with their English.

Conferences and large meetings are often held in the college auditorium, which is also where we do our progress tests.

UK budget, 1996..

The pie chart shows how much money is spent by the government of the U.K on various categories in 1996.

Social security took the highest amount of the budget which was £100 billion. In the second rank came health and personal social services with £53 billion which is more than the half of the first. £38 billion was spent on education: that came in third. Debt interest, other expenditure and defence are close to each other, £25 billion, £23 billion and £22 billion respectively. They spent about £ 17 billion for law and order. Housing, heritage and environment cost £15 billion. The two other things to be mentioned are industry, agriculture & employment, £13 billion, and transport, £9 billion.

The pie chart shows that the U.K. government wasn’t interested in spending its money on transport and housing, heritage and environment compared with the money it spent on social security and health which is about half of the money.
